Giving
Dominican Hospital Foundation is a separate non-profit public
benefit organization to raise funds for Dominican Hospital to
provide better health care to the community. Your donation to the
Foundation is a gift of good health.
Giving Opportunities
Heritage Club
Members are those who name Dominican Hospital Foundation in a will, living trust, charitable trust, insurance arrangement, or charitable gift annuity. An attractive permanent display in the hospital recognizes Heritage Club members by name. It's the Foundation's way of honoring today those who make a gift for tomorrow. Endowments
Foundation Board of Directors set up the Dominican Hospital Foundation Endowment in April 1984. Annual yield on the Endowment's untouchable principal assures income in perpetuity to Dominican, an income that continues to grow as the Endowment prospers. The Endowment offers a thoughtful and creative option for those considering making a charitable gift to the Hospital. Component funds may be named for those who donate $10,000 or more to the Endowment. Those who establish such funds may designate the purpose for which they are used. There are now more than 50 Endowment component funds to battle a specific disease, for equipment or building, or for education, for example. Annual Giving Society
Members of the Annual Giving Society provide a source of support that Dominican Hospital can count on, year after year. Society members make a commitment that their annual support of the Foundation will reach $500, $750 or $1,000. Every donation made throughout the year is counted toward Annual Giving Society membership. This means, for example, that every memorial gift and each special purpose gift will help our Giving Society Members reach their selected commitment level. The Pteron Society
The Pteron Society was founded by a group of Dominican's medical staff to provide a visible way for the local medical community to show their support of Dominican Hospital and be recognized for this philanthropy. The name Pteron (Greek for "wing") was chosen to give wings to specific Dominican Hospital projects benefiting health care in Santa Cruz County. Pteron Society members donate $100 each month to the Foundation. Individual donors may direct their gift to a specific cause or service area or to where the need is greatest. A special section of the Honor Roll of Donors in Dominican's main lobby is being reserved to list Pteron Society members. Ways to Donate
The Tree of Life
The Tree has long been recognized as a symbol for life. Our Tree also represents the charitable giving of life to others through the nurturing of Dominican Hospital. The roots symbolize Dominican's origins in the Santa Cruz community, the branches the way the Hospital is interwoven with people's lives through its care and services, and the leaves the individuals who have helped Dominican flourish. The Tree itself was donated by Mrs. Ethel Albanese Christensen, in memory of her late husband, Carmen Albanese. Each leaf recognizes a donor to the Dominican Hospital Foundation, remembers a loved one or recognizes a significant event or person. "And in the middle of the Garden He set the

The Honor Roll
The Honor Roll of Donors is proudly displayed in the hospital's main lobby as a tribute to individuals, local businesses and civic groups who have made generous gifts to support the work of Dominican Hospital. The Honor Roll displays Heritage Club members and donors in groupings indicating cumulative gifts to the Dominican Hospital Foundation. Sponsor - $5,000

Memorial and Tribute Giving
A gift to Dominican Hospital can be a fitting, personal way to honor the memory or successes of a loved one, or mark other milestones in life. When the tribute is in memory of someone dear, the Foundation will notify the family of your kind act, but will not disclose the amount of your donation.
